Pure Prairie League -
their first album which features Cliff's tune, "Country Song." It's the long version with an awesome jam. An uptempo, shorter version is on their live double album, "Takin' the Stage."

I was managing PPL at this time when they blowin' people backwards off their chairs in the Cincinnati music scene.

Band featured the amazing Craig Fuller on vocals and lead guitar (he's currently with Little Feat, the multi-talented George Powell on guitar and vocals, and John Call on pedal steel who is still considered one of the best in the biz.

Craig, George, John and longtime bassist, Mike Reilly, still get together for reunion shows.

Val & Al blow people away on a consistent basis. Either as a duo, with their Creole Syncopaters Dixieland Band or as part of the legendary Karen Tyler Trio.

The first time people hear Val sing a flicker of recognition crosses their face. It might have something to do with the fact that she toured with Big Brother and the Holding Company after Janis Joplin was no longer available.

I'm very proud that they chose to record three of my songs on their new album, including the title track,
"What Kind of Blue is This?" Listen to their interview with Steve Key on KRUSH-FM

49 Special
is a hot, hot bluegrass band based in San Francisco. Their album coming out in March 2011 includes    one of my tunes, Country Song, first recorded by Pure Prairie League way back when.

Danny Booth
, Jim Chayka, Alisa Rose, and Tyson Alteri have put together a sound that combines tradition with freshness, and honors the first generation masters while clearly making a statement that they’ve got something to bring to the genre themselves.

They won the prestigious Rockygrass band competition in July of 2009.
